FAQs Project Participants

How does this compare to a traditional development pathway?

Drawn Carbon simplifies and accelerates carbon project development. Instead of spending years on complex technical work and high consulting fees, participants join with a pre-validated PD and follow a standardized process. We manage Verra and VVB coordination, reducing staffing needs and development costs. Our approach also improves capital access through investor connections, flexible financing, and a built-in offtake network, creating a faster, more accessible path from implementation to credit issuance.

How many areas may I register on the platform?

There’s no limit. Participants can register as many areas as they like, as long as those areas meet the eligibility criteria and the participant is in good standing with their existing activity areas’ KPIs. All participants can scale over time, but those with less experience may start with smaller or less frequent registrations to ensure activities remain manageable. As participants demonstrate postive performance, limits re lowered to support sustainable, capacity-aligned activity growth.

Is there a minimum level of technical experience or capacity to participate?

Drawn Carbon is designed to be accessible, so no carbon experience or large teams are required. However, participants must be able to execute planned activities and complete onboarding processes using the platform. For those needing additional support, our Auxiliary Services team can assist with targeted technical tasks through custom scopes of work.

How quickly can I onboard?

Our typical onboarding process for qualified participants takes 1-2 weeks, depending on your documentation readiness.

Which areas and land cover types are covered by the platform?
  • For ARR, eligible areas must support reforestation or afforestation on non-forest land and must exclude wetlands, tidal wetlands, and organic soils. Additional criteria may apply depending on the participant’s planting design and activity area location. Not all regions may be available.

  • For REDD+, only regions with official Verra risk maps and Activity Data are currently eligible, and may be further limited by Drawn Carbon. As Verra releases risk maps for additional regions, our coverage will expand accordingly. Within eligible areas, we focus on high-deforestation risk zones, excluding peatlands and wetland or tidal wetland areas, even within existing ownership boundaries such as private or conservation lands. This targeted approach improves impact, streamlines implementation, and reduces the risk of misallocated resources.

What types of land use or activities qualify for inclusion in the program?

ARR participants must define activities that are designed to produce measurable vegetative enhancement. Our design supports small scale and large-scale afforestation and reforestation and that supports direct planting and/or natural restoration.

REDD+ participants must design activities that prevent unplanned deforestation from logging, settlements, infrastructure expansion, agriculture, ranching, or aquaculture. These may include establishing legal protections, supporting local communities to reduce conversion pressures, and implementing monitoring systems within the project area.

How soon could I begin generating verified carbon credits?

Depending on your readiness to implement activities and the rate that GHGs are sequestered or reduced in your activities, you may be able to generate credits within months of onboarding. For other types of activities that require time to demonstrate performance, like tree growth in the northern hemisphere, it may take several years. Our Auxiliary Services team can generate customized projections.

How much revenue can I generate?

There is no limit, but revenue potential depends on several variables and is highly context specific. Key factors include your activity design (e.g., tree species, planting density), regional conditions (such as climate, forest productivity, mortality), and your project economics. Ultimately, revenue will be drive by volume and price. Drawn Carbon is designed to maximize price by demonstrating integrity and quality.

Can I still implement CCB and other Labels?

Yes, many labels are possible, though timing and platform availability of some labels are not planned until 2026:

  • CCB: Drawn Carbon plans to this label using a CCB Foundations project design by late 2026 or early 2027. Participants can begin preparing now through SDG-aligned program groups and indicators using Theory of Change tools made available on the platform.
  • CORSIA: While Verra methodologies VM0047 and VM0048 are not yet CORSIA-eligible, approval is expected later this year. Once approved, eligible activity areas may qualify for CORSIA credits. Drawn Carbon will cause the issuance of CORSIA labeled credits automatically on behalf of platform participants.
  • Article 6: This remains dependent on host country frameworks and bilateral agreements. While Drawn Carbon intends to support Article 6 pathways, availability will vary by jurisdiction and may take additional time to implement. Drawn Carbon will cause the issuance of CORSIA labeled credits automatically on behalf of platform participants where available.
  • ABACUS: Where qualified, all credits issued for ARR will automatically receive the ABACUS label upon issuance. Other labels not listed here may also be supported.
What if I want our project to have a higher impact than what is required to participate?

That’s allowed, and it’s encouraged. Drawn Carbon sets a high bar for integrity and quality, but you’re free to design and implement activities that go well beyond it. Whether you’re aiming for deeper climate impact, stronger social outcomes, or enhanced biodiversity benefits, the platform supports you. Because you own your credits once issued, you’re free to market them independently and set a value that reflects the full scope of your impact.

What happens if I want to leave the program?

You’re free to leave the Foundations project at any time. Any enrolled activity areas can be removed and transferred to a different project pursuant to the terms of our commercial agreement and Verra requirements, whether developed independently or with another service provider.

However, once outside Foundations, you would need to develop a new, standalone project description and follow the traditional carbon development pathway, including managing validation, registration, and credit issuance without the assistance of Drawn Carbon

FAQs Project Investors

Can I message or communicate with other participants directly through the platform?

Drawn Carbon is working to implement a platform-wide messaging and chat feature. This will facilitate the sharing of lessons learns and general collaboration in activity implementation.

Do I deploy capital funding through the platform?

Drawn Carbon is not a broker or transaction platform. We facilitate discovery and connection to activity areas and participants you are interested in, but all contracting, and fund disbursement occur directly between participants and financiers outside the platform. Drawn Carbon does not intermediate or execute financial transactions.

How does Drawn Carbon mitigate investment risks inherent in forest carbon projects?

Drawn Carbon reduces risk through four key mechanisms: projects are developed and managed by EP Carbon, a team with over 16 years of carbon project experience; participants join an already-validated project, minimizing early-stage uncertainty; a dedicated Quality Assurance team conducts internal audits and removes underperforming participants; and risk is further diversified by distributing activities across multiple independent project instances. For discerning participants, Drawn Carbon can insulate risk by replicating project design for the exclusive use of specific entities (see FAQ below).

Can I own my project or does it have to be owned by Drawn Carbon?

Yes, you can own your project which is separate from any other Foundations project on the platform.

For example, a large NGO wants to own their own project and control participation in their project. In his example, Drawn Cabon would duplicate its already proven Foundations project design for the large NGO, establishing a replicate copy for the exclusive use by the large NGO. Because the duplicate project remains compatible with the Drawn Carbon platform, the platform can still be used to operate and commercialize the duplicate project.

The platform can also be white labeled to create a custom brand experience.

FAQs Credit Buyers

Can I purchase carbon credits directly through the platform?

While Drawn Carbon facilitates discovery and connection, all credit purchases, payment terms, and retirements are managed directly between buyers and sellers. The platform does not process transactions or act as a payment intermediary.

Can I message or communicate with participants directly through the platform?

Drawn Carbon is working to implement a platform-wide messaging and chat features. This will facilitate introduction and discovery between participant suppliers and credit buyers.

How do I ensure the quality and integrity of carbon credits?
  • Drawn Carbon maintains credit integrity through a combination of strong project design standards, transparency and proactive oversight via our Quality Assurance Team. Participants must adhere to rigorous standards, including the Social and Biodiversity Impact Assessment (SBIA) framework and Theory of Change (ToC) models, that are embedded into the project’s eligibility criteria ensuring robust, transparent, and effective project design and execution.
  • Our Quality Assurance Team bridges the relationships between participants, Verra, VVBs, and Drawn Carbon while continuously monitoring performance against KPIs and technical requirements. This oversight enables timely corrective actions—from improvement plans to participant removal if necessary—supported by site visits and structured reviews.
  • Together, this design and oversight model helps ensure all credits issued through Drawn Carbon are verifiable, and trustworthy.
